About Me

I’m Yash Xavier, a space-obsessed, tech-curious student currently navigating the final stretch of my IB Diploma programme. I'm taking Higher Level courses in Mathematics AA, Physics and Computer Science; I'm currently predicted for a score above 41+ for my IBDP finals, with 7's in my three core subjects and ESS, but numbers only tell part of the story.

From a very young age, the sky has fascinated me. As a child, I would spend hours gazing at the stars, sketching aircrafts and rockets, immersing myself in books about planets and space exploration. This early fascination has evolved into a deep-seated passion for aerospace, satellite communication and systems engineering.

Over the years, I've pursued various projects that blend my interests in technology and space. Challenging all odds and wanting to do something disruptive, I learned more about Operating system kernels and I built a fully functional all MacOS feature enabled Hackintosh from scratch on a Lenovo Yoga touchscreen laptop, tracked and decoded real-time weather data from various NOAA satellites using a DIY V-dipole antenna, RTL-SDR and captured deep-sky images of celestial objects like the Orion Nebula, Pinwheel Galaxy and Dumbbell Nebula amongst many more. These endeavour's weren't school assignments; they were driven by pure curiosity and a desire to understand the cosmos.

My academic journey has been complemented by hands-on research and internships. I developed a working model to capture and decode weather satellite data and also to transmit it back like a real NOOA satellite does with the help of a Raspberry pi, this helped in enhancing my understanding of space communication systems. I have built a tracking mechanism with which I feed live data of aircrafts flying in and around my area onto platforms like FlightRadar24, FlightAware and ADS-B Exchange 24/7. Additionally, I have proposed innovative solutions for space debris mitigation, focusing on sustainable approaches to ensure hygiene and longevity of our orbital environment. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the challenges and opportunities in space technology.

The IB curriculum has taught me to think critically, manage complex projects and draw connections across disciplines, but my learning doesn't stop in the classroom. I spend my free time building, experimenting and documenting my journey, which is what this website is all about.

This space serves as a living portfolio of my explorations and aspirations. It's a reflection of my passion for technology, my obsession with the sky and my commitment to contributing meaningfully to the future of space exploration and aerospace innovation. With a wide interest in hardware, chip designing, RF Technology and implementation of AI in these fields, I'm currently exploring universities in the U.S. and Europe where I hope to study engineering and computer science, programs that will challenge me, push me to innovate and connect me with others who are equally passionate about the future.

When I'm not immersed in code or peering through a telescope, you'll likely find me sketching new ideas, searching for asteroids on an IASC campaign, capturing aircraft landings or attempting to get a better capture of our milky way galaxy; I never get tired with these.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find inspiration in my journey and perhaps discover a spark of curiosity yourself...!
